Kozyatağı Housing Project

Housing

2019

Mixed-use structures are incorporated based on user demand and regional data. Kozyatağı Residences is a mixed-use building containing residential and commercial units in the Kadıköy district of Istanbul. It is located very close to the Ayşekadın metro station and Kozzy Shopping Mall in Kozyatağı. The proximity to a shopping mall and its corner plot resulted in a high concentration of commercial activity on the ground floor. The northern side of the project area, which has a difference in elevation, is at a lower level. Due to both its location at the intersection of streets and the availability of an extra floor, commercial functions were placed on this side.

The residential complex, consisting of 230 apartments, offers six different apartment types: 1+1, 2+1, and 3+1. In addition to functional decisions, formal decisions were made, creating breaks and voids in the apartment layouts on certain floors to maintain a balance between solid and void spaces. This resulted in apartment balconies and floor gardens accessible from the floor halls, giving the facade a modern design language. Similar irregular decisions were also made regarding facade materials, with different materials preferred in sections with varying dynamism. The massive structure of the high-rise buildings has been broken down.
