Housing

2024

In housing designs developed to meet the housing needs of a dense population, the concept of distribution constitutes one of the fundamental elements of the design. Increasing the occupancy on one side of the project area while distributing the construction area density in the remaining area is an approach that makes it possible to create spaces that are harmonious with the environment and allow for social interactions. In our 7-block mass housing project designed in Sancaktepe district of Istanbul, while one block rises to 12 floors, the other blocks were built with low-rise structures, aiming to distribute the construction area density across the project area.

In this project with dense construction, a fragmented and dynamic facade concept prevails rather than a massive mass detached from the scale of the environment. The decision made during the design process created back-and-forth movements in the masses. The parts extending from the blocks reveal terraces in places within the residential units. This movement created in the blocks gives the structure rhythm. A modern look was achieved with the use of warm colors and wood cladding materials on the facades. At the same time, user diversity was considered in the project, and apartment solutions of various sizes and numbers of users were produced.
